Pulse · fault detection and diagnostics

Find the developing fault before the breakdown call.

Pulse reads how HVAC and critical equipment is running, finds developing faults, and shows the evidence. Your team uses each finding to prioritize the work, explain it to the customer, and check performance after the repair.

In plain language

What fault detection and diagnostics means.

Equipment usually drifts before it fails. A coil gets dirty, a charge leaks down, a compressor short-cycles. Pulse watches the operating data for those patterns and turns them into a finding your tech can act on.

A finding identifies a developing fault and the evidence for it. It is not a promise of the date a part will fail.

What Pulse watchesWhat it can find
Supply and return temperatures, ΔTRefrigerant and heat transfer problems
Superheat, subcooling, pressuresDirty coils and airflow restrictions
Compressor amps, runtime, cyclingShort cycling and compressor wear
Setpoints, calls, sequencesSensor and control sequence failures
Energy use and historyEfficiency loss and abnormal operation

From finding to verified repair

Every finding closes the loop.

Example data
  • The evidence: the readings behind the finding and how long it has been in fault.
  • The confidence: how sure Pulse is, stated on the finding.
  • The next step: what the tech should check, with the manual page when it's on file.
  • Verification: after the repair, the same data shows whether the fault is gone.

Getting started

What a first Pulse job needs.

  • Equipment: HVAC and critical equipment at a customer you already maintain, starting with a few rooftop units.
  • Inputs: operating data from sensors and controllers on each unit. The MIS design tool determines what each unit needs.
  • Setup: your team installs, and MIS programs and commissions through its AI factory (automated tools that write most of the controller programming from the design, finished and tested by MIS engineers).
  • Reporting: findings and outcomes in a customer portal with your company's name on it.
